windows 10 change username

In our era, computers are personal devices. However, in certain cases our computers can also be used by family members. In this case, computer owners can set up different user accounts for personal users and family members to keep their private files on their computers. The reason for this is that more than one person uses the same computer to create a separate section where you can see your personal data. At times we may be concerned that our computer password has been learned and may wish to change it. Or we can change our username just to make a change. In this article I will explain how to change the user name and user directory name in windows 10.

How to Change User Name in Windows 10

Changing the user name in Windows 10 is quite simple. All you have to do is go to the settings section from the start menu. In the Settings section, enter the Users and Accounts tab, then find the user whose name you want to change and make the name change. However, some of us may want to make changes to the user directory name section. For this, you can follow the method given below.

Right-click on my computer, enter the properties and then click on System Protection.

After opening the System Protection tab, click the Create button to the right of the Create a restore point sentence below.

-When you give the restore point a name, wait for the creation process to complete and continue.

-Then create a new user. This will be a temporary account.

Navigate to C  Users or C  Users

-Right-click the user name you want to change and type the new name that you will use by saying Rename.

Open the run application from the Start menu and type regedit and confirm.

- In the Registry window that opens, locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - SOFTWARE - Microsoft - Windows NT - CurrentVersion - ProfileList folder. After opening the ProfileList folder, find the one of the folders on the left that belongs to the user you want to change.

Once you find the folder you want to change, double-click ProfileImagePath and in the drop-down Value Data section, simply delete the old name without damaging the C  Users and type the new name.
